I've tried to be honest about the equipment we actually have here at home. We do have a Gazelle and like it a lot. We also have a CrossBow, which is very like a BowFlex. I've tried to choose equipment here that will give the greatest benefit. I strongly believe that exercising outdoors whenever possible is by far the most beneficial as far as helping to alleviate depressive symptoms. However, it is often not feasible to exercise outdoors.

Joining a gym is a great way to get out of the house and be around people; however, if this is not something you're up to doing, having some kind of exercise equipment in your home is an excellent idea.

Before starting any type of exercise, check with your doctor!

Tony  Little's Gazelle Glider

The beauty of the Gazelle is that it is low impact. I have a bum knee, which makes a lot of leg exercises difficult for me. The Gazelle causes me no problems. We've been very pleased with our Gazelle. I usually watch TV while I'm on it. Exercise and entertainment all in one! I highly recommend this item!

Elliptical Trainer

These are also supposed to be low impact and very good exercise.
We just got one on March 25, 2005 -- check my blog for an update.

Treadmill

A treadmill is great if you can't get out of the house to walk. Personally, I think the Gazelle is a better bet because you can ramp-up your exercise as you are able. Also, the Gazelle exercises your arms as well as your legs, making it a good overall body machine. But if you are really out of shape, you might want to start with a treadmill.
